HAVE YOU EVER felt that God doesn’t hear you, or that you don’t hear what God is saying to you? One of the truths we believe as Christians is that God has opened the way for us to draw near to Him and for Him do draw near to us (James 4:8), through having a full assurance of faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ ( Hebrews 10:19-22). Our relationship with God is a dialogue not a one way conversation. Still even as we say and affirm this, we also experience some levels of frustration in this dialogue: we are not sure if God reveals Himself or speaks to us nor how he does it. This is why it is very important to cultivate the presence of God in our lives. It is the Holy Spirit who speaks to our heart the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:10), and we are to cultivate and develop our lives according to His presence and His voice. Be encouraged that we are not alone in our frustration. God is also frustrated when He cannot get through to us: “What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the Holy Spirit, whom God has placed within us, jealously longs for us to be faithful?” (James 4:5). While we may have some level of expectation of God drawing near to us, He too desires us to draw near to Him in the way He has prescribed. Be blessed and you draw near to Him. He will draw near to you! (Pastor Phil)
