For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish
but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)

He who did not spare his own Son,
but gave him up for us all—
how will he not also, along with him,
graciously give us all things?
(Romans 8:32)

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATES THE gift of God’s Son to us. It is a demonstration of love that is unmatched in the universe. Think about this awesome thought: Almighty God, the Creator of the universe considered it worthwhile to go to such a great length to be reconciled with us, his creatures, that He sent his Son Jesus Christ to become one of us. He was born as a baby, went through the process of growing up to adulthood, endured rejection by His peers and suffered a cruel and violent death which as it turns out was on our behalf so our sins could be forgiven. He rose again in order that we could live life to the full, enjoying the grace of God in this life and look forward to the hope of eternal life with Him. What a gift! Such love!

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God!

(I John 3:1)
